The Winter 2022 newsletter of the Canadian Pain Society (CPS) featured the two winners of the 2021 CPS Art Awards; Lizbeth Ayoub (Pain Researcher/Trainee Category) and Sandra Woods (Pain Patient Category).
My winning entry was a 4 x 6" watercolour entitled "Menacing Mosquito". The theme of this annual Art Awards was "Imagining Pain", and I decided to represent my multiple pain types - from a rare disease called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome - as a mosquito constantly buzzing around. Of course, chronic pain is much worse, buzzing its way into your mind and intruding in your thoughts; making it difficult to concentrate, whether at school, at work, at rest, or even painting!
