Can you see a little bird, hiding in plain sight?
Scroll in to the darkest patch in the orange area, then look just above that to find the beak, then the eye ...
This simplified bird shape, created using highly granulating pure-mineral watercolour pigments, is much more evident when viewed in person than on a little photo!
Its title is "Spreading your wings", and it was one of two watercolour paintings I recently submitted to an upcoming juried-in exhibition.
After receiving the acceptance notification, though, I withdrew from this in-person event in Old Montréal because my sweetheart was recovering from a possibility contagious and antibiotic-resistant pneumonia along with bronchiolitis - a second lung infection.
His fever repeatedly rose above the threshold of 103.7°F, so it's not an illness that to be taken lightly.
Enjoy this painting here, as it won't be in an upcoming contemporary art exhibition as I'd planned!
My description of this painting, by the way, was:
"A tiny bird imagines itself an eagle, spreading its wings across the sky."

Voyez-vous un petit oiseau, qui se cache en pleine vue ?
Agrandissez l'image et tracez la ligne orange jusqu'au point le plus foncé.
Cherchez ensuite le bec, puis l'oeil ...
La forme simplifiée de l'oiseau, créée par moyen de pigments minéraux qui offrent une excéllente granulation ou sédimentation, est beaucoup plus évidante sur la toile que sur un toute petite photo !
Le titre de cette aquarelle est "Voler de ses propres ailes", et c'est une des deux oeuvres que j'ai soumis récemment à une exposition avec Jury cet été.
Mais après avoir reçu l'avis d'acceptation, je me suis retirée de cette exposition au Vieux Montréal car mon chéri était en récupération d'une pneumonie peut-être contagieuse et résistante aux antibiotiques - ainsi que d'une bronchiolite, une deuxième infection pulmonaire.
Sa fièvre ayant atteinte à plusieurs reprises la seuil du 103.7°F, ce n'est pas une infection à prendre à la légère !
Alors profitez de cette aquarelle ici, car elle ne sera pas présentée lors d'une exposition d'art contemporain tel que prévu.
